Studio Recommended Aftercare Instructions
Tattoos take a little over 4 weeks to heal, and 3 months to settle in completely.
The best way to keep as much ink in your skin as possible is to not let the tattoo scab. There are a few ways to do this, and different methods work best for different skin types.
If you have a method that works for you, by all means care for your tattoo that way, these are just the ways we have found to be best for most skin types. If you choose not to follow these instructions, we will not be liable for badly healed tattoos.
For the first few weeks, do not submerge or soak the tattoo in water, showers are fine - just be mindful not to get soap in the fresh tattoo.
Wash the tattoo gently (do not use washcloths or sponges, just your hands) with gentle fragrance free soap and water.
Make sure your hands are clean when touching your tattoo & any towels/paper towels are sterile. Never rub or scratch your fresh tattoo. Do not wear tight clothes or have rough seams laying across the site of the tattoo.
Second Skin Method:
Leave the original layer on for 24 hours following your tattoo, if your tattoo was wrapped in cling film, leave for 6-12 hours.
Carefully remove the film by pulling a corner/edge away from the centre of your tattoo (like how you remove command hook sticky pads) - do not peel it directly away from your skin.
Gently wash your tattoo and apply a thin layer of aftercare cream, be careful not to coat the skin around the tattoo as this will interfere with the glue on the film.
Apply a fresh healing film, making sure to cover at least 2-3 cm beyond the area of the tattoo. The film will only stick to clean, dry, undamaged skin.
Leave on for 3-5 days, if your bandage tears or comes unstuck, put on a fresh one, but do not restart the day countdown.
You can shower wearing the film, but continue to avoid baths or submerging the tattoo site as the film may become compromised and trap dirt.
After 3-5 days, you no longer need to cover your tattoo, however continue to apply tattoo aftercare for as long as needed (your skin will be very dry for a while, as it readjusts back to normal).
Cling Film Method:
For the 5 days following your tattoo:
Every morning, afternoon and evening (3 times a day) gently wash your tattoo, pat dry (do not rub) and apply a thin layer of tattoo aftercare cream. Wrap the tattoo site in cling film. Secure with microporous tape if necessary but take care not to stick tape to your tattoo.
If you get sweaty, clean and change the wrap more times in the day as needed.
After 5 days, you no longer need to cover your tattoo, however continue to apply tattoo aftercare for as long as needed (your skin will be very dry for a while, as it readjusts back to normal)

Where can I Park?
There can be space out front for a car, but this is not always guaranteed. There is free roadside parking (1 hour max), the Co-Op in town (max 4 hours), Knebworth Train Station or the small car park (free) by the playing fields down Watton Road. Kerr Close also has free roadside spaces (up the hill, past the metered spots). Knebworth train station is a 2 minute walk from the studio.

Do you accept Cash or Card?
Both, although some of our Artists may have a preference. It is best to check with your Artist first. The studio has a card reader if you prefer that payment method.

I have a design in mind, what do I do?
Contact your chosen Artist and send them images or descriptions, and they will help you. For more complex designs, you may want to consider booking a consultation.

*Please note that our Artists will never copy another artist's work, or use their images without permission*

Do I need to book a consultation before I can book in a tattoo?
Not necessarily, if your design is simple we can arrange your booking without needing a consultation, just message your Artist directly.
The design I wanted has already been reserved, what can I do?
Please message your Artist, they will be more than happy to design another similar piece for you.
How much will my tattoo cost?
Each of our Artists set their own prices, these can be viewed in their portfolios or message them directly for a quote.
A deposit will always be required & your Artist can only confirm your booking once payment is received.

Deposits act as a booking fee and are non-refundable.
I need to cancel my appointment, what should I do?
Appointments may be rescheduled once at no extra cost - Please message your Artist at least 48 hours before your appointment. Missed appointments will cost you your deposit/booking fee. Cancelling without rescheduling will lose you your deposit.
I missed my appointment, what should I do?
Please contact your Artist and rebook your session, you will have to pay your deposit again upon rebooking. Deposits are non-refundable & help us cover the costs of setting up for your appointments, so any deposits made previously will not count towards new bookings.
I have existing tattoos that I would like covered up and/or repaired, can you help?
Absolutely, in these cases your Artist will need to see the existing tattoo, either via pictures or in a consultation so that we may examine your tattoos & discuss what your options are.

I want to use numbing cream for my tattoo - what should I do?
If at all possible, don't. Numbing cream causes the skin to become more damaged & tattoos done with it heal badly. Fine line tattoos CANNOT be done with numbing cream. Thicker, bolder designs heal the best but we will always strongly recommend against using the creams.
If you need to use the cream that is fine, just be aware of the risks, that some designs will not work & that the tattooing process will take longer as a whole. Make sure you discuss this with your Artist prior to the appointment - we would hate for you to loose your booking on the day if you turn up with cream on for an unsuitable tattoo.
Buy a reputable brand and follow the instructions. We will not apply or provide any of these creams for you.
